Saint Paul’s College has successfully concluded its 2026 Inter-House Sports competition in a colourful and exciting ceremony, the event which was held on Saturday, February 22, brought students and staff members together in celebration of athletics and unity.
The school, located in the heart of Kakuri in southern Kaduna State, hosted the event on its premises amid cheers and applause from residents of the surrounding area. The competition served not only as a sporting event for pupils and students but also as a platform for promoting discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship among young people.
Participants from various houses competed enthusiastically in a wide range of activities including sprints, relay races, march past, egg races, sack races, balloon bursting, fill-in-the-bottle, and thread-the-needle contests. The atmosphere was lively as spectators applauded outstanding performances and encouraged contestants throughout the games. Some parents who came to pick up their wards expressed concern that they had not been informed of the event, but many later marvelled at the activities.
Speaking at the event, the sports head, Mr Mfon, emphasized that inter-house sports remain an essential part of holistic education, helping students develop physical fitness, leadership skills, and a spirit of healthy competition. Teachers also commended the students for their discipline and cooperation during the activities.
The Vice Principal, Mr. Emanuel, praised the committee for organizing a well-coordinated programme that brought students together while nurturing talent among the youth. Many expressed hope that such events would continue to inspire children to pursue sports alongside academic excellence.
The highlight of the day was the presentation of trophies and medals to winning houses and outstanding athletes. Celebrations followed as victorious teams marched proudly around the field.
In all, the 2026 Inter-House Sports of Saint Paul’s College ended on a joyful note, reinforcing the school’s commitment to academic excellence, character development, and community engagement through sports.
